Bill Simmon is a Vermont-based filmmaker, writer and media educator. He has been making and teaching media professionally for over two decades. He has a broad range of experience in digital media, including producing award-winning films, television shows, radio shows, and podcasts. He has taught film & video production and editing at several colleges in northern Vermont and worked extensively with individuals and organizations to improve their storytelling skills through the use of digital media.
Bill is also a writer who authored an award-winning blog from 2004-2010 and has written for publications including SXSWorld magazine, Keyboard magazine, and Business People-Vermont magazine.
Bill is an experienced public speaker on topics including digital media, podcasting, media access in the 21st century, and the democratization of media. He has been a featured speaker at the SXSW Interactive conference, the Alliance for Community Media national and regional conferences, and the National Alliance for Media Arts and Culture conference. Bill has also presented talks and moderated panels for groups including the ACLU of Vermont, The South End Arts & Business Association, and several groups of librarians.
